Long Term Care
The Maryland Consumer Guide to Long Term Care helps you review and compare long-term care services. These services can be in nursing homes, assisted-living residences, home health agencies, adult day-care facilities, and hospice programs. You can sort by services offered and by county. You can look at the Maryland Office of Health Care Quality’s health and safety inspections. You can review family satisfaction surveys on local nursing homes and get links to other useful resources on long-term care service providers in Maryland. If you are interested in a quick comparison of nursing homes or home health agencies, select a topic from the list on this page.

Use this checklist if you will have the opportunity to visit and compare several nursing homes prior to placing a loved one in a nursing home.
Immediate Need Checklist
Use this checklist if you are experiencing an urgent need to place a loved one in a nursing home, for instance following a hospital stay or for rehabilitation purposes.
The Guide also includes the results of three surveys. One survey was for persons receiving home health services, and another was for nursing home services for short-stay residents. The third survey was for family members of long-stay nursing home residents. A hospice survey is planned for 2016.
